How to submit samples

• Choose your NMR experiments
• Prepare an NMR sample or ask us to prepare it for you
• Fill out an NMR service form
• Bring it to the NMR lab (see map)

You may also register for access to the laboratory so that you can visit outside office hours when it is convenient for you by reviewing safety procedures and filling out an entry pemit form. Bring a magnetic card to use as a keycard.

You can receive your spectra printed, faxed or emailed.

Use the instruments yourself

Institute of Chemistry users are encouraged to use the instruments themselves.

With the help of the laboratory working instructions, learn to use the instruments from the NMR team (NMR service charge applies) or from another user.

Show the NMR team that you know how to run a ¹H NMR spectrum on your own.

Review the laboratory safety proceedures.

Fill out an entry pemit form.

Bring a magnetic card to use as a keycard.

Terms and conditions

NMR service should be ordered directly from the NMR laboratory with the exception of NMR chromatography below.

You can save money by bringing your samples ready dissolved in an NMR tube or you can ask us to prepare the sample for you.

The prices of NMR services for external users is shown in table 1 and for internal users in table 2.

*A half work-day is considered a vacation day after 13:30.

**Cheap service only is availabel to members of the Institute of Chemistry outside working hours without a technician present.

***Your account must be paid from an Institute of Chemistry budget to qualify for Institute of chemistry rates.

Sample preparation includes common NMR solvents: CDCl₃, D₂O, DMSO-d₆, CD₃OD, acetone-d₆, C₆D₆, CD₃CN or CCl₄. For other solvents there is an additional charge (see table 1 and 2).

Usually, three routine ¹H NMR spectra can be run per hour. The service includes sending the results by fax or email. External users must provide a purchase number and internal users a budget number with the order. Payment should be made within 30 days of receiving an invoice. All orders must be accompanied by an NMR service form. Service is provided on the understanding that it is clear that the obligation to pay is not dependent on receiving specific results but just the execution of the analysis. The customer is aware that the University is not responsible in any way or means for the results of research or any use of these results. These prices are vaild till 31^st December 2013.
