Postdocs

Shailesh Kumar (shailesh.kumar@mail.huji.ac.il):

Shailesh was born in Kushinagar, UP, India. He completed his Ph.D. at IISER Bhopal, where he explored carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions and organoselenium antioxidants. As a postdoctoral researcher, he is exploring the synthesis and Gpx activity of selenopeptdies and proteins. His hobbies include reading, practising yoga, and watching movies.

Graduate Students

Ricki Notis Dardashti (rebecca.dardashti@mail.huji.ac.il):

Ricki was born in Allentown, PA, USA (not far from Philadelphia). She completed her B.A. in chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. Ricki is focusing on post-translational modifications of proteins during her Ph.D. In her spare time, she likes to use her chemistry skills in the kitchen, and is always looking for a new and exciting recipe to try.

Reem Ghadir (reem.ghadir@mail.huji.ac.il):

Reem was born and raised in Bir el-Maksur in the lower Galilee, and is pursuing an M.Sc. in chemistry at Hebrew University. Reem plans to continue on to graduates studies in the field of chemical biology. She loves enriching her knowledge with historical facts and reading ancient Arabic literature. Reem also enjoys nature a lot.

Hiba Ghareeb (hiiba.ghareeb@mail.huji.ac.il):

Hiba was born and grew up in Jerusalem. She completed her M.Sc. in pharmaceutical science at Al-Quds University, where she worked on a project about the drug discovery and design including produg synthesis, analysis, purifications, and kinetics in order to enhance bioavailability and stability, and to mask bitter taste. She is exploring the total chemical synthesis of anti-thioredoxin agents for the treatment of cancer. She likes playing sports.

Orit Ktorza (orit.ktorza1@mail.huji.ac.il):

Orit was born and grew up in Paris. She is pursuing her Ph.D. through studying behaviors of prebiotic peptides and therapeutic proteins. Orit’s hobbies includes reading, practicing sports and baking.

Reem Mousa (reem.mousa@mail.huji.ac.il):

Reem was born and grew up in Tarshiha in the Galilee. She is exploring total protein synthesis and oxidative protein folding as a Ph.D. student. Reem’s hobbies include playing piano and reading.

Zhenguang Zhao (zhenguan.zhao@mail.huji.ac.il):

Zhenguang was born in Xinzhou City (near Beijing), Shanxi Province, China. He completed his Masters in organic chemistry at the Jiangxi Normal University. Zhenguang is focusing on the development of new protecting groups for selenopeptide, and the synthesis of selenoproteins. His hobbies include reading, watching movies, and playing basketball and table tennis.

Undergraduate Students

Dar Gliksberg (dar.gliksberg@mail.huji.ac.il):

Dar was born and grew up in Kiriat Ono (near Tel Aviv). She is in her second year of undergraduate studies in chemistry and biology at the Hebrew University, and plans to continue on to graduate studies in the field of chemistry. Her hobbies include reading and swimming.

Lareen Khouri (larin.khouri@mail.huji.ac.il):

Lareen was born in Abu-Snan in the Galilee, and she is in her final year of undergraduate studies in chemistry and biology at the Hebrew University. She plans to continue to M.Sc. studies in the field of bioorganic chemistry and protein synthesis. Lareen's hobbies included travelling and reading. She also loves animals.

Shakked Schwartz (shakked.schwartz@mail.huji.ac.il):

Shakked grew up in Manoff in the Western Galilee, and is in her second year of undergraduate studies in chemistry and biology at the Hebrew University. Shakked plans to continue on to graduate studies in the biochemical field. She enjoys hiking, playing the flute, and spending time with family and friends.

Tasneem Abu Raiya (tasneem.aburaiya@mail.huji.ac.il):

Tasneem was born and raised in Sakhnin. She is in her final year of undergraduate studies at the Hebrew University. Tasneem's hobbies include playing piano, running, and reading French and Arabic novels.
