Science and Technology of Nanocrystals
We study the chemistry, physics and application of nanocrystals. A special focus is given to semiconductor nanocrystals and to hybrid metal-semiconductor nanoparticles.
In this regime, intermediate between a solid and a molecule, fundamental properties depend on size, composition and shape and we control the material to achieve the desired structure and investigate the derived properties. These nanocrystals can potentially be used as building blocks of nanotechnological devices. We are interested in preparation, characterization, and the optical, electrical and electronic properties of nanocrystals and nanorods and in their applications in optics, solar energy, catalysis, electro-optics and biology.
