נא לחפש את הירח ביום שלישי בבוקר כ"ט אייר תשס"ח ושוב למחרת ביום רביעי אי סיון תשס"ח בערב. בחודש הזה תיתכן תופעה נדירה מאוד בארץ. ייתכן שהירח יעלם רק ללילה אחד. בדרך כלל הירח נעלם לשניים או שלושה לילות. פעם בכעשרים שנה הירח נעלם ללילה אחד בלבד. ביום שלישי כ"ט אייר תיתכן ראייה קשה מאוד של הירח המתמעט בבוקר בין 04:51 ו-05:24 (מירושלים ובצורה דומה לשאר הארץ). ב-04:51 הירח יהיה באזימות °61. הירח המתחדש יופיע מהארץ ורוב העולם ביום רביעי א' סיוון תשס"ח. ייתכן שהירח ייראה מירושלים (ובצורה דומה משאר הארץ) בין 19:44 ו-20:41. ב-19:44 הירח יהיה ברום °½10 ובאזימות °295. מהודו וסקנדינביה ראיית הירח יהיה גבולית ומדרום אפריקה ואוסטרליה הירח ייראה למחרת.

A beit din reconstructs the receiving of eyewitness testimony in Jerusalem 2008/05/07

Please look for the Moon on Tuesday Morning 3^rd June 2008 and again the next day, Wednesday 4^th June 2008 in the evening. This month a very rare event of the Moon disappearing for only one night may occur in Israel. Usually the moon disappears for two or three nights. Once in about 20 years the Moon disappears for only one night. On Tuesday 3^rd June it may be possible to see the waning crescent Moon with great difficulty in the morning between 04:51 and 05:24 (from Jerusalem and similarly from the rest of the country). At 04:51 the Moon will be at azimuth 61°. The New Moon will appear from Israel and most of the World on Wednesday 4^th June 2008. The Moon may be visible from Jerusalem (and similarly from the rest of the country) between 19:44 and 20:41. At 19:44 the Moon will be at altitude 10½° and azimuth 295°. From India and Scandinavia the visibility will be marginal and the Moon will only be seen the next day from South Africa and Australia.

Please report your sightings to me (royh63@gmail.com or 0523849276). In addition, a beit din (religious court) in Jerusalem intends to reconstruct the receiving eyewitness reports of seeing the Moon (see the above picture) on Thursday 5^th June 2008 between 17:00 and 19:00. Whoever saw the New Moon is invited to come to give their report at 8 Beer Sheva St., Jerusalem. To enter, go into the outer door then through the door that is in front of you. If it is difficult for you to get there, please call the court secretary on 025661962 or 0506733831 or send a fax to 025664137 to set another time or, if there is no other choice, to give your report by phone.
