  הירח לא נראה מהרץ בגלל עננים בשבת א' שבט תשס"ז. ניסו לראות אותו מירושלים, אופקים, באר שבע, ערד ומעלה אדומים. במעלה אדומים התאספו כ-40 אנשים לחפש את הירח. מתוכם שלושה ראו את נוגה לכמה שניות בין העננים אבל הירח, שהיה °3 מתחת לנוגה, לא נראה. אלמלא העננים הירח היה נראה. הוכחה לכך הגיע מהודו כאשר הירח נראה מהיידרבד, וישחפטנאם ופלקולו. הירח נראה בליל שבת בעזרת משקפת 100×20 על חצובה ממשעול גייטש, קרוב לטוסון, אריזונה, ארה"ב. תודה לג'ון פולצ'ק, ג'ים סטאם וג'ון קרי שהתאמצו לקיים את התצפית (טמפרטורה C°8, לחות 71%). הירח נראה בין העננים בין 18:00 ל-18:04 (UTC+7).

 

  בחודש הבא הירח ייראה מהארץ ורוב העולם ביום א' ל' שבט תשס"ז. הירח יהיה קשה לראייה בדרום אפריקה, סקנדינביה והודו ולא ייראה עד למחרת מאוסטרליה. התצפית מסקנדינביה תהייה חשובה משום שחסר תצפיות עם הגיאומטריה הזאת. בירושלים ייתכן תצפית קבוצתית עם איטונאית מ-ynet (www,ynet.co.il). פרטים בהמשך.

  The Moon was not seen from Israel because of clouds on Saturday 20th January 2007. Attempts were made to observe the Moon from Jerusalem, Ofakim, Beer Sheva, Arad and Maale Adumim. In Maale Adumim about 40 people gathered to search for the Moon. Of these, three was Venus for a few seconds between the clouds but the Moon, that was 3° below Venus, was not seen. Had it not been for the clouds, the Moon would have been seen. Proof of this came from India where the Moon was seen from Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam and Palakollu. The Moon was seen on Friday using 20×100 binoculars on a tripod from Gate's Pass near Tucson, AZ, USA. Thanks to John Polacheck, Jim Stamm and John Curry that put a lot of effort into making this observation (T 8°C, RH 71%). The Moon was seen between clouds from 18:00 to 18:04 (UTC+7).

 

  Next month the Moon should be seen from Israel and most of the World on Sunday 18th February 2007. The Moon will be difficult to see from South Africa, Scandinavia and India and will only be seen the next day from Australia. The observation from Scandinavia will be important as we lack data for this geometry. In Jerusalem, there may accompanied by a journalist from Ynet (www.ynet.co.il). More details will be given at a future date.
