  הירח נראה בקלות מהארץ אתמול (יום א' א' סיון תשס"ו). תודה לכל אלא ששלחו דיווחים ואני מתנצל אם שכחתי מישהו. מאשדוד, מגדי שמואל ראה את הירח החל מ-19:35; מנהריה, שלומית סלקמון ראה אותו ב-19:38; מעופרה, אליהו כץ ב-½19:39; מירושלים, דבורה גורדון, מירי בורגין ואבי ליגנל ב-19:43 ורוב אוסטין ב-19:47; מפתח תקווה, מרים וטוביה כאץ ב-19:44 (טמפרטורה C°23, לחות 88%) ואייב וברברה ברוט ב-19:55; ממרכז תל-אביב, אהוד בר סיני ב-19:55; ממעלה אדומים, דבורה ורנדי וואהל, בסביבות 19:55; מנריה, אבישלום פאוכטוונגר ב-20:10; מבאר שבע, חיים מקלר ב-20:15 ומנבה שאנן, חיפה, יעקב נמת ב-20:15. הירח גם נראה מאוחר יותר על ידי מנחם רוזן מקרית מלכי, יואל גוברמן ממעלה אדומים ויצחק הולצמן מפסגות. מגותרבורג, שוודיה, אריק ארר דיווח על עננים ויהרח לא נראה.

 

  הירח נראה מטוסון, אריזונה ארה"ב שלשום (שבת כ"ט אייר תשס"ו) על ידי קבוצה של תצפיתנים מנוסים כוללת ג'ים סטאם וג'ון פולצ'ק. לא הייתה שום אפשרות לראות את הירח מהארץ שלשום.

 

  ג'ים סטאם חיפש את הירח הישן ביום ו' כ"ח אייר תשס"ו בעזרת טלסקופ (200 מ"מ) מטוסון ולא מצא. הירח שם היה בלתי אפשרי לעין אך חזו סיכוי טוב לראותו בטלסקופ. הוא לא הצליח לראת, כנראה מחמת אובך.

 

  בחודש הבא, רב הסיכוי שהירח ייראה מהארץ ורוב העולם ביום ב' ל' סיון תשס"ו (26.06.2006). אם מחמת אובך לא ייראה הירח בארץ נא לחפש למחרת. מהודו וסקנדיביה, הראייה תהייה מאוד גבולית וחשובה. אולי ייתכן הראייה יום קודם (יום א') בעזרת טלסקופ טוב מדרום מערב ארה"ב. בדרום אפריקה יידרש טלסקופ. האוסטרליה, הירח יופיע רק ביום ג'.

 

  The Moon was easily seen from Israel yesterday (Sunday 28th May 2006). Thank you to all who reported and I apologize if I forgot someone. From Ashdod, Magdi Shamuel saw the Moon starting at 19:35; from Naharia, Shlomit Slakmon saw it at 19:38; from Ofra, Elliyahu Katz at 19:39½; from Jerusalem, Devorah Gordon Miri Burgin and Avi Lignell at 19:43 and Rob Austin at 19:47; from Petach Tikva, Miriam and Tuvia Kaatz at 19:44 (T 23°C, RH 88%) and Abe and Barbara Brot at 19:55; from the center of Tel-Aviv, Udi Bar Sinai at 19:55; from Maale Adumim, Debra and Randy Wohl at about 19:55; From Naharia, Avishalom Fauchtwanger at 20:10; from Beer Sheva, Chaim Mackler at 20:15; and from Neve Sheanan, Haifa, Yaakov Nemet at 20:15. The Moon was also seen later by Menachem Rosen from Kiryat Melachi, Joel Guberman from Maale Adumim and Yitzchak Holtzman from Pesagot. From Göteborg, Sweden, Ariq Arar reported clouds and the Moon was not seen.

 

  The Moon was seen from Tucson, AZ, USA on Saturday 27th May 2006 by a group of experienced observers including Jim Stamm and John Polachek. There was no possibility to see the Moon that day from Israel.

 

  Jim Stamm searched for the old Moon on Friday 26th May 2006 with a 200 mm telescope. The Moon was known to be impossible to see with the naked eye but was considered likely to be visible with a good telescope. He did not succeed in seeing the Moon, probably due to haze.

 

  Next month, the Moon is likely to appear from Israel and most of the World on Monday 26th June 2006. If, due to haze, the Moon is not seen from Israel, please look again the following day. In India and Scandinavia, the sighting will be very marginal and therefore important. It might just be possible to see the Moon a day earlier (Sunday) from the South-Eastern USA using a good telescope. In South Africa, a telescope will be needed. In Australia, the Moon will only appear on Tuesday.
