2005/10/05
Dear All,
The New Moon was clearly seen
from Israel
tonight (Wednesday 5th October 2005). It was first seen with the
naked eye by Magdi Shamuel from Eilat at 18:20.
Yesterday, the Moon was seen
with great difficulty using 11ª80 tripod mounted binoculars from Mt. Hezkiyhau. Other observers from Jerusalem
and the Galilee could not see it. The Moon was
not seen with the naked eye yesterday.
Next month's New Moon should be
visible on Thursday 3rd November 2005 (unless the sky is very hazy)
from Israel
and most of the rest of the World. However, the Moon will not be visible from
Scandinavia until Saturday 5th November although there is an outside
chance of seeing it from southern Sweden on Friday 4th
November.
On Monday 3rd October
there was a partial eclipse of the Sun in Israel. There will be a lunar
eclipse on 17th October but this will not be visible from Israel but will be visible from the USA. Observers
from Israel
will have to make do with watching webcams during the day.
Partial solar eclipse (52%) at 13:02 (UTC+3)
2005/10/03 as seen from Maale Adumim,
Israel

Happy New Year
Yours,
Roy.
