2005/08/08
Dear All,
The New Moon was seen on
Saturday 6th August 2005 from Israel. The atmospheric conditions
varied with location hence a relatively wide range in times of first sighting. Magdi Shamuel saw it from Ashdod
at 19:34. I saw it from Pardes Hanna at 19:42. Danny
Levy from Har Nof-Jerusalem
saw it at 19:48 while from elsewhere in Jerusalem,
Carmel and
Terry Fehr, Din and Avi
Marcus and Steve Berkovitz saw it at 19:51 and Devorah Gordon and Ferenc Illesy saw it at 19:57. Elliyahu
Katz, Naama Abaje and Avraham Schlissel saw it from Ofra at 19:50. From Har Beracha, Avraham Hermon saw it at 20:03 and Itzik Daskal at 20:06. Miriam Kaatz
reported that it was cloudy in Petach Tikva.
Next month's New Moon should be
visible on Monday 5th September 2005 from Israel and most of the rest of the
World. There is a small chance of seeing the Moon from Israel the previous evening with a good
telescope or from the southern USA
with the naked eye.
Yours,
Roy.
