2005/03/15

Dear All,

A new beta version of Lunacal is now available for download from our website (www.geocities.com/royh_il). In addition to minor corrections and additions, this takes into account the new 'permanent' Israeli rules for daylight saving time. The rules, if I understand them correctly, are at 01:00 on the last Friday of March the clocks are put forward to 02:00 and at 01:00 on the Sunday after Shabbat Shuva (the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) the clocks are put back to 00:00. This also affects the predictions for the New Moon of this coming October. Updated guides are available for download.

As stated previously, next month's New Moon might be visible from Israel, on Saturday 9th April 2005 but will be very difficult or impossible to see with the naked eye. (The New Moon will not be visible to the naked eye from India, South Africa or Australia until the next day – Sunday 10th April 2005). If the Moon is not visible then please look again on Sunday 10th April.

Yours,

Roy.
