2005/03/13

Dear All,

In addition to my report of last night, there were several other sightings on Friday night because the Moon was relatively easy to see. The earliest sighting was at 18:00 from Jerusalem which was relatively late because of high-level clouds. Other observers did not make an effort to see the Moon at the first moment of visibility. From outside Israel, I received reports of clouds from Boulder, CO, USA and Gothenberg, Sweden.

However, the Moon was seen with a telescope only the previous day (Thursday 10th March 2005) from Tucson, AZ, USA by Jim Stamm starting at 18:31 (UTC – 7). Congratulations on another excellent observation.

Next month's New Moon might be visible from Israel, on Saturday 9th April 2005 but will be very difficult or impossible to see with the naked eye. (The New Moon will not be visible to the naked eye from India, South Africa or Australia until the next day – Sunday 10th April 2005). If the Moon is not visible then please look again on Sunday 10th April.

Yours,

Roy.
