2005/02/10
Dear All,
Due to clouds over the whole
country, the Moon was not seen from Israel tonight (Thursday 10th
February 2005). I have already received reports of thick cloud from Afula in
the north to Arad
in the south. The Moon would certainly have been visible if it had been clear.
If I hear otherwise, then I will update the website quickly but will not send a
further email till Sunday. Outside Israel,
the New Moon was seen by Arnold and Jo-Anne Rupkalvis in southeast Queensland,
Australia
at 19:15 AEST (UTC+10) between clouds.
As stated previously, it was
cloudy in Israel
last night (Wednesday 9th February 2005) and the Moon was not expected
to be visible anyway. I even got a report that it was cloudy in Eilat which is usually sunny even in the winter. The Moon
was seen from the USA
last night. From Centennial, CO, it was seen by Lior
and Nir Eshdat at 18:07 MST
(UTC-7) and Aya Eshdat at 18:12
although the Moon may have been visible a few minutes before this.
Next month's New Moon should be
visible from Israel, barring
cloud, on Friday 11th March 2005 (but may be visible with a
telescope the previous day, 10th, from the southern USA and may not be visible except with a
telescope till the next day, 12th, from southern Australia).
Yours,
Roy.
