Dear All,

I will be presenting a lecture (in Hebrew) entitled 'Rational design of lunar visibility criteria' at Bar-Ilan University on Wednesday  1st December 2004 at 4:00 pm in room 331 Math and CS Building. The abstract is available here.

The next version of LunaCal is now available for download from our website. This is version 3.0 beta 1 and is still not complete. However, the visibility predictions are more accurate especially for telescopic sightings, more locations have been added and better account taken of daylight saving time in Israel. Some bugs have been corrected so that information about the distant past is now accurate to about 2000 BCE. I know that there are still problems with this software and recommend that you keep a copy of the previous version. Nonetheless, your comments are welcome.

In light of recent developments that potentially affect our activities, I have added information to our website putting the Sanhedrin in its historical context. Either click on the title bar or on the text click through the word 'Sanhedrin'. Comments are welcome.

Yours,

Roy.
